JSPL Angul to Be World’s Largest Steel Plant

Bhubaneswar: The Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) plant in Angul is set to become the world’s largest single-location steel plant, as announced by Naveen Jindal, the chairman of Jindal Steel and Power, on the sidelines of the ‘Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’.
Jindal, a three-time Member of Parliament for Kurukshetra, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, congratulating Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi for organizing it successfully. He highlighted that the conclave would lead to substantial investments in Odisha, creating thousands of job opportunities and boosting the state’s development.
Jindal revealed that JSPL has already invested around Rs 1 lakh crore in Odisha, with plans to expand its steel plant in Angul from 6 million tonnes to 12 million tonnes within this year. The long-term goal is to raise production to 25 million tonnes over the next six years, with an investment of Rs 70,000 crore. This expansion will make it the world’s largest single-location steel plant.
He also mentioned plans to integrate green technologies and hydro zones into the plant’s operations and stated that JSPL is considering setting up a green steel plant. Additionally, Jindal hinted at the possibility of a new steel plant in Keonjhar.
This ambitious expansion highlights JSPL’s commitment to investing in sustainable technologies and contributing to Odisha’s industrial growth.
