JP Nadda to Launch AB-PMJAY in Odisha on April 11

Bhubaneswar: Union Health Minister JP Nadda is set to launch the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in Odisha on April 11. The formal launch event will take place at 2:30 PM at the Bali Jatra ground in Cuttack, famously known as the Silver City.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling are scheduled to attend the state-level event in Cuttack.
To mark the occasion, district-level events will also be organised across Odisha. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari will attend the programme in Nayagarh, while the MSME Minister will be present at the Kendrapara event. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik will participate in the Nabarangpur programme, and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond will attend the launch event in Koraput.
Similarly, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra will be present in Dhenkanal, and Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan will take part in the Jajpur programme. Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena will grace the event in Ganjam, while Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahaptra will attend the programme in Mayurbhanj.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Handloom and Textiles Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, and Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia will be present at the events in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, and Keonjhar respectively.
The launch comes following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Odisha government and the Centre to integrate the AB-PMJAY with the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY).
The integrated scheme, likely to be named Ayushman Bharat-Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-GJAY), will provide health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per annum. Additionally, women beneficiaries will receive an extra Rs 5 lakh in health cover.
With this initiative, approximately 3.52 crore people from 1.08 crore families in Odisha will be covered under the unified health scheme.
