Jewelleries worth more than Rs 10 lakh stolen from 2 temples

Dhenkanal: Throwing open challenge to Police, burglars have looted from at least two temples in Dhenkanal district of Odisha yesterday night.

The miscreants have looted jewelleries worth more than Rs 10 lakh from the Maa Bata Mangala temple and the Bramhani Devi temple situated at the Baji Chowk under Dhenkanal Town Police Station limits.

As per reports, gold necklace, Mangala Sutra, earrings, a ‘Chita’ and a silver crown were stolen by the miscreants from the Maa Bata Mangala temple near Baji Chowk overbridge. The temple management committee claimed that the stolen items will be summing worth more than Rs 10 lakh.

Similarly, the same night yesterday, a hundi (Donation) box was broken and stolen from the Brahmani Devi temple on Baji Chowk Chhack.

After getting information Police initiated investigation of the case. The police dog squad team reached the spot and started investigation on the basis of CCTV cameras.

The thefts from various temples, shops and houses in the city have raised questions about the efficiency of the police.

The locals have demanded to increase police patrolling and arrest of these temple looters immediately.
