Jajpur, The New Name in Medical College List
Jajpur (Reporters Today Bureau): After decades of waiting, the people of Jajpur have been relieved. The decision by the Odisha cabinet to open a super specialist hospital in Jajpur yesterday has caused a great deal of joy in the region. Although 24 years have passed since the district was recognized in Jajpur, the people of the district are still deprived of health care.
On April 1, 1993, Jajpur was recognized as a district. From then on, the work of improvement in Jajpur began. The district, which has 311 gram panchayats and 1781 villages, is facing serious health problems, with a small hospital set up in Jajpur on September 22, 1993.
It was like a shell to the sea as the whole of Jajpur was dependent on the hospital. In addition, the hospital did not have all the departments, not enough doctors and other equipments. So most of the time, people rely on Cuttack SCB Medical College Hospital or private hospitals for health problems. There has been a long-running demand for a super speciality medical center in Jajpur.
The Congress, which had ruled the State and the district for more than 50 years, had not been able to resolve the issue. The people overthrew the Congress government and handed over power to the BJD. The BJD government has ruled for 22 consecutive years. Meanwhile, many senior leaders in Jajpur have been elected. Many also served as ministers in the State cabinet. From this soil, Prafulla Ghadei, Kalpataru Das, Pramila Mallick, Debashis Nayak, Amar Satpathy have taken charge of the BJD and the important departments were in charge. But basic human needs, such as health, could not be met. Today, thanks to the efforts of the young legislator of Jajpur, the long-held dream of the people of the district is coming true. Jajpur has been provided with a 100-seated Medical College and a 500-beded Hospital. A total of Rs 426.51 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
