Jajpur Couple Sentenced to Life for Murdering Pregnant Teen Daughter

Jajpur: A Special Fast Track Court in Jajpur on Saturday sentenced a couple, Nakul Jena and Sanju Jena, to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of their 15-year-old pregnant daughter in 2016. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts.

The residents of the Binjharpur police station area were found guilty of murdering their minor daughter after discovering her pregnancy. In a gruesome attempt to hide the crime, they burned her body to destroy evidence.

The court’s verdict was based on the testimonies of three key witnesses and other corroborating evidence presented during the trial. Emphasizing the seriousness of the crime and the need to uphold justice, the judge pronounced the life sentence.

The case, which sent shockwaves across the region, had been under investigation since 2016. Following a detailed probe, the police arrested Nakul and Sanju Jena and charged them with murder.

The judgment has been hailed as a significant step toward delivering justice in cases of violence against minors.
