Jaishankar Arrives in Odisha for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Odisha on Sunday ahead of the 2025 Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10.

Jaishankar landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport around 6:20 PM and will remain in the state for five days until the conclusion of the event.

Speaking to the media upon his arrival, Jaishankar expressed confidence in the state’s preparations. “The Odisha government is organizing Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on a grand scale. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has informed me that preparations are in their final stages. I believe the Prime Minister’s presence will make this event a great success,” he said.

Following his arrival, Jaishankar proceeded to Konark, where he will stay at the Konark Eco Retreat for the night.

On Monday, the Minister will visit the Konark Sun Temple, offer prayers at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, and stop by Raghunathpur, known for its traditional paintings. In the afternoon, he is scheduled to visit Dhauli Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda) before heading to the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar for an overnight stay.

Jaishankar will participate in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas events on January 8 and 9, before departing for New Delhi on the morning of January 10.
