IPS Arun Sarangi Applies for VRS
Bhubaneswar: IPS Arun Sarangi has applied for VRS, said latest reports in this regard on Wednesday. Recently, the government had appointed him as the chairman of OPSC. Earlier Arun was the in-charge DGP of Odisha from December 31, 2023 to August 16, 2024. Reports say the 1990 batch IPS Arun Sarangi has applied for VRS. He had successfully managed the 2024 general assembly elections and the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. However, Arun Kumar Sarangi in a recent interaction with KalingaTV informed that he has applied for voluntary retirement.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on September 27 had appointed senior IPS officer Arun Kumar Sarangi as the Chairman of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC). It is worth mentioning here that, as per the notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department, Sarangi, a 1990-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the next Chairman of the OPSC for a period of six years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of the Article 316 of Constitution of India, read with Regulation 3 of the Odisha Public Service Commission (Conditions of Service) Regulations, 1952, the Governor of Odisha has been pleased to appoint Shri Arun Kumar Sarangi, IPS, Special Director General of Police (Training) and Director, Biiu Patnaik State Police Academy, Odisha as Chairman, Odisha Public Service Commission for a term of six years from the date he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of sixty-two years, whichever is earlier,” read the notification.
