Investigation Ordered Into OSRTC Bus Crash

Angul: Following a tragic bus accident involving an Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus that claimed three lives and left 20 others injured, Angul District Collector Abdaal M. Akhtar has ordered an investigation into the incident.

The bus, traveling from Baripada to Angul, overturned near Gaham village under the Samal Police Station limits, resulting in the deaths of three passengers and critical injuries to seven others. The remaining injured passengers were treated at the Godibandha Community Health Centre, with the critically injured transferred to Angul District Headquarter Hospital for further care.

In addition to ordering the probe, Collector Akhtar sought a detailed report from the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and identify those responsible. The district administration has also pledged to provide free treatment for all the injured.

Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sibananda Mohanty confirmed that all the injured had received medical attention.

Local residents have alleged that the bus was speeding at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the overturning. They have called for action against the driver, who reportedly fled the scene, and demanded compensation for the families of the deceased passengers.
