Inter-state dacoits arrested

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police claims to have arrested seven members of a gang of inter-state dacoits including two masterminds on Sunday in Cuttack.

Though the identities of the arrested persons are yet to be disclosed by the cops, it was learnt that the gang was involved in many loot cases across the state.

Acting on a tip-off, police swung into action and arrested them from the outskirts of the city. Police said Rs 30,000 in cash, 300 gram gold and three kilogram silver was seized from their possession.

“The gangs’ modus operandi was to pull down the doors of locked houses and loot the valuables,” said Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh, and added that many cases are pending against them in several police stations of the state.
