Institutions in Odisha to Go solar

Odisha came forward to take up clean energy and environmental initiatives, for a cleaner and greener Odisha, the state government has decided to install solar power systems in all the campuses under the jurisdiction of the Department of Higher Education.

This step of government will help public universities to move in green and reducing the cost of their energy consumption. The work will be handle by

Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd (GEDCOL).

This step of Government will help educational Institutes to become environmental friendly and build the climate leaders for tomorrow. Moving towards more benefits of the initiative, it will not only reduce the universities’ electricity bills but also help students in studies as there will be a steady power supply. Each of the universities pay at least `8 lakh a month towards electricity bills.
