IMD Issues Thunderstorm, Lightning Warning for Puri and Jagatsinghpur

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast warning for Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts, forecasting light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds over the next three hours.

The warning, issued at 11 am, stated that certain parts of these coastal districts are likely to experience gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, along with rain and lightning.

“Light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to affect some parts of Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts within the next three hours,” the nowcast bulletin read.

The IMD has advised residents of the affected areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions. People have been urged to seek shelter in safe locations and avoid open spaces to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
