IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorm Alerts for Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several districts of Odisha over the next two days.
On July 9, Mayurbhanj district has been placed under an orange alert, with forecasts indicating very heavy rain and thunderstorms. A yellow alert has also been issued for Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, and Boudh, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely.
On July 10, the weather department predicts heavy rainfall in Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nawarangpur, and Koraput. These districts have been placed under a yellow warning.
The IMD also warned of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph in isolated areas of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal.
Residents have been advised to remain alert and follow instructions issued by local authorities for safety.
