IMD Issues Fog Alert for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for dense fog across several districts in Odisha over the next three days. Travelers have been advised to exercise caution during the morning hours as visibility is expected to be significantly reduced in the affected areas.
Day-wise Forecast
Day 1 (Until 8:30 AM, January 28):
Dense fog is likely to occur in one or two places across Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Keonjhar. Shallow to moderate fog may develop in the early morning over these districts and isolated areas in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal. Dry weather is expected to prevail across the state.
Day 2 (8:30 AM, January 28 – 8:30 AM, January 29):
The IMD predicts dense fog in one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar. Shallow to moderate fog is likely in these districts, as well as isolated areas in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, and Sundargarh. Dry conditions will prevail.
Day 3 (8:30 AM, January 29 – 8:30 AM, January 30):
Dense fog may occur in one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara. Shallow to moderate fog is forecasted for these areas, along with isolated spots in Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal. Dry weather is expected statewide.
Advisory
The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and Additional Chief Secretary have advised district Collectors and SPs to take necessary precautions to prevent accidents during periods of dense fog. Police and transport officials have been instructed to regulate vehicular movement on highways to ensure road safety.
Residents have been urged to remain cautious, particularly during morning travel, and to follow safety guidelines to avoid accidents in fog-affected areas.
