IGBC’s 2nd Edition of Green Odisha Conclave 2025 Charts Roadmap for A Green Future

Bhubaneshwar: The CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), successfully hosted the 2nd Edition of the Green Odisha Conclave on Friday, 9 May 2025, at Crystal Crown, Bhubaneswar. Centered around the theme “Building a Sustainable Future: Roadmap & Sustainable Solutions for a Green Built Odisha,” the conclave brought together over 200 professionals from government, industry, and academia to chart a greener, more sustainable future for the state.

The full-day event focused on integrating green building practices into Odisha’s urban and rural development strategies. Leading architects, policymakers, urban planners, and technical experts shared ideas and innovations aimed at minimizing environmental impact while enhancing the quality of life through sustainable infrastructure.

The inaugural session featured key addresses from Ar. Manonjay Rath, Chairman, IGBC Bhubaneswar Chapter;Ar. Vivek Singh Rathore, Co-Chairman, IGBC Kolkata Chapter and Mr. Rakesh Bhura, Co-Chairman of IGBC Bhubaneswar Chapter. The session concluded with closing remarks byMr. Manoj Kar, Past Chairman, IGBC Bhubaneswar.

Odisha is increasingly prioritizing sustainability in its construction and urban planning efforts. With growing adoption of green building standards and active involvement from state agencies, the region is fostering environmentally conscious development. Initiatives promoting energy efficiency, eco-friendly materials, and resource conservation are helping shape a greener built environment, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to a sustainable future.

By embracing IGBC’s green and net zero building practices, Odisha is paving the way for healthier, more resilient cities that honour both our heritage and our aspirations.” Ar. Manonjay Rath, Chairman, IGBC Bhubaneswar Chapter said at the Green Odisha Conclave.

A key highlight of the day was a panel discussion on “Suggested Roadmap for a Green Built Odisha,” moderated by Ar. Vivek Singh Rathore. The panel included senior officials and experts from Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), the Works Department, IIT Bhubaneswar, and the Indian Building Congress. They discussed the adoption of green codes, incentives for green buildings, and integration of climate-responsive design in public projects.

Speaking at the conclave, Ar. Vivek Singh Rathore, Co-Chairman, IGBC Kolkata Chapter said, “Odisha is at a pivotal moment in shaping its urban future, and integrating sustainability into its built environment is no longer a choice but a necessity. Through IGBC’s collaboration with the government and the Indian construction industry stakeholders, we can ensure development that is both progressive and environmentally responsible.”

The technical sessions explored cutting-edge green construction solutions and showcased successful case studies. Speakers from companies such as En Simulated Solutions LLP, Saint-Gobain Glass, LuminX, ITC Limited, and Aerolam Insulation Pvt. Ltd. presented topics like energy-efficient glazing, thermal insulation, and green-certified buildings. Attendees gained insights into practical innovations being implemented in both industrial and urban settings.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, followed by a vote of thanks from IGBC Bhubaneswar. The conclave served as a pivotal moment in Odisha’s journey towards sustainable development, offering a collaborative platform to learn, share, and advance green building practices across the state.
