IAS Officer Dhiman Chakma Under Observation in Jail After Bribery Arrest

Bhubaneswar: The health condition of Dhiman Chakma, a 2021-batch IAS officer and Sub-Collector of Dharmagarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, has reportedly worsened after he was sent to judicial custody following his arrest in a major bribery case.

Chakma was arrested by Odisha Vigilance after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman at his official residence. During the subsequent search, Vigilance officials recovered an additional ₹47 lakh in cash from his residence, intensifying the gravity of the case.

Sources indicate that Chakma is now suffering from severe depression and is currently under medical and security observation in the jail’s medical ward. Jail authorities have kept him isolated from other inmates for safety and health reasons.
