Humans wiping out the world’s species:WWF report

According to WWF’s “Living Planet” report, from 1970 to 2014, 60% of all animals with a backbone — fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals — were wiped out by human appetites and activity.

The current rate of species loss is 100 to 1,000 times higher than only a few hundred years ago, when people began to alter Earth’s chemistry and crowd other creatures out of existence.

From 1970to 2014, 60 percent of all vertebrate animals were wiped out by humans.Almost 6 billion tons of fish and invertebrates have been taken out of the world’s oceans since 1950.There has been an 83 % decline in fresh water species since 1970.The world has lost about half of its shallow water corals in only 30 years.Upto 90% of the world’s coral reefs might be gone by mid-century.The world’s mangrove cover has declined by 50% in the last 50 years.
