Hoax Bomb Threat Triggers High Alert at Biju Patnaik Airport

Bhubaneswar: A high alert was issued at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar following a bomb threat call, which later turned out to be a hoax, earlier this afternoon.
Authorities immediately took action, with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intensifying security checks at both the entrance and exit points, according to sources. Local police were also notified, and a thorough search operation was initiated to detect any suspicious objects in and around the airport premises.
Though the threat came from an unidentified source and is believed to be a hoax, efforts are ongoing to trace the caller and determine their motive.
Speaking on the matter, Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan said, “We received a bomb threat via the X platform (formerly Twitter) claiming bombs were planted on several Akasa Air flights. After following the protocols of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC), we declared the threat as non-specific. The Bangalore-Bhubaneswar Akasa Air flight was cleared after all necessary BTAC and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) checks.”
Security remains heightened as authorities work to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff at the airport.
