High Court seeks policy on putting up Statues in schools
The High Court of Orissa has directed the school & mass education department to come out with a clear policy regarding the installation of statues on the premises of Government Schools. This is a last chance for the department.
Prior to this the court had asked for a clear policy on the matter from the school and mass education department on September 14, last year.
However, the state counsel on January 5 this year informed that the draft policy has been prepared which will be finalised within two weeks and placed before the court with an affidavit before the next date on March 29.
But when the matter was raised in the court the state counsel asked for some more time, which will the final one.
Stating that one last chance is granted, the bench of Chief Justice S Muralidhar and Justice Gourishankar Satapathy
said that the finalised policy should be positively placed on record by next date on June 28.
