High Court defers hearing on police-lawyer spat

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday deferred the hearing on the much awaited cops-lawyers spat as the State CID, CB failed to submit a full-fledged charge-sheet.

The High Court had earlier directed the investigating agency to concede  the investigation and submit the probe report by November 9. However, the Crime Branch sought another six weeks time to furnish the charge-sheet.

The HC  rejected the CB’s plea and posted the next hearing to November 13, citing that already the investigation is being monitored by a judge. It also directed the CB ADG to submit the charge sheet in the next hearing.

Sources said, during the court proceedings, the Orissa High Court also expressed displeasure over the revocation of the suspension orders of the police personnel who were earlier arrested for allegedly assaulting a Cuttack-based lawyer at Chauliaganj in August.

Bar Association will decide its future course of action soon,it is reported.
