Heavy snowfall in J&K cripples normal life

Srinagar,jan 4:
In Jammu & Kashmir, normal life was affected due to heavy snowfall that started yesterday afternoon and continued till today morning.
At least 5 inch snow depth was recorded in Srinagar city that threw normal life out of gear. In Srinagar city and other towns of the Valley, heavy snowfall began this morning, affecting movement of traffic and leading to traffic jams at many places as the roads were rendered slippery. The chaos led to low attendance of people in most offices. The universities have cancelled or postponed.
The 300 Km strategic Srinagar Jammu National Highway has been closed for vehicular traffic since yesterday.Road clearance work has also been disturbed due to continuous snowfall and slippery road condition.
