Heavy Rain Brings Relief and Chaos to Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A sudden spell of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms lashed Bhubaneswar on Friday, offering relief from the ongoing heatwave but also disrupting normal life across the city.
The unexpected downpour led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, slowing down vehicular movement and causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Caught off guard, many residents sought shelter under flyovers and overbridges.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted rainfall and thunderstorms for the region. While the showers brought a welcome break from the intense heat, they also exposed the recurring issue of poor drainage in the city.
Several areas experienced traffic snarls as rainwater accumulated on key roads, once again highlighting the need for improved urban infrastructure and drainage management in the capital city.
