Rourkela: Two more persons died at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) taking the total number of unnatural deaths reported from the hospital to 12.
With these cases, the total number of deaths reported from Sundergarh district has reached 16. Of them, at least 12 were reportedly received dead at the RGH Hospital in the Steel City whereas the other four were from different parts of the district, said health department sources.
Though the exact reason behind the sudden death of the people is yet to be ascertained, the treating doctors suspect it is due to sunstroke, for the unbearable heatwave the district witnessed today.
However, the health complications behind the death of the people will be ascertained after autopsy. “It has not been established that they have died of heatstroke. Most of them died in the hospital. That has happened for unknown reasons. We are unable to give their history,” Superintendent of the RGH, Sudharani Pradhan informed.
