Headmistress Suspended After Snake Bite Death

Puri: The Headmistress in charge of Poparanga Government Primary School has been suspended, and a class teacher transferred following the tragic death of a student due to a snakebite during a cleanliness activity on school premises.
The incident occurred on Monday when a Class 4 student was reportedly bitten by a cobra while cleaning the school’s grain storehouse. The child died on the spot. According to allegations from the family, the teacher had punished the student for not completing his work and ordered him to clean the storehouse as a form of discipline.
Following the incident, the District Education Officer (DEO) took action, suspending the Headmistress in charge and transferring the class teacher. The incident has sparked outrage, raising concerns about student safety and school discipline practices.
