Guidelines issued for Dola Melan and Holi by Commissionerate police in Cuttack

 

Cuttack (Reporters Today Bureau): In view of the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the Commissionerate Police has issued strict guidelines for the celebration of Holi in Cuttack.

Besides, for the observance of Dola Melan, the CP has directed the organizers to follow strict guidelines and organize them in a low-key manner in order to prevent further spreading of the virus in the Silver City.

“Dola Melan will be organized in Cuttack UPD with effect from March 23 and Holi will be celebrated on March 29. Though in previous years, it was celebrated in pump and grandeur, it is felt necessary to observe the festival in a low-key manner this year to prevent further spreading of COVID-19,” said a notification issued to all IICs of Cuttack.

Here are the guidelines issued by the twin city Police

  • Not more than 200 shall be allowed  for the gathering/crowd in the Melan ground
  • There shall not be more than 10 persons In each ‘Biman’, including the priest, Ghantua, light man, etc
  • All the rituals of the Dola Melan shall be organized in a low-key manner.
  • No use of music or loudspeaker shall be permitted at the melan ground
  • . No meena bazaar/stall shall be installed near the place of Melan ground.
  • . No cultural function shall be allowed during Dola Melan
  • No music system/loudspeaker/DJ will be allowed to be played on the day of Holi on the roads and public places.
  • On the day of the festival of Holi, the public is allowed to observe Holi the same in their own houses.
