Government to Re-Survey Homesteadless Families

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, the Odisha government has decided to undertake a fresh survey of homesteadless families throughout the state to ensure they are granted land pattas. This survey is set to begin on August 16 and will continue until September 15, with the primary goal of identifying eligible families who are without homesteads.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari made this announcement following a review meeting on Friday, where it was decided that the survey would cover all districts. District Collectors have been instructed to initiate the enumeration process immediately and complete it by December 31.

Moreover, the government has resolved to provide immediate land pattas to 2,276 families who were identified as homeless in a 2018 survey. In addition, educational institutions have been instructed to ensure that government land is properly recorded in their names and that they take possession of it.

The meeting saw the participation of several high-ranking officials, including Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, along with other senior bureaucrats.
