Goods Train Catches Fire at Radhakishorpur Station

Athagarh: Another coal-laden goods train caught fire for unknown reason at Radhakishorpur station under Athagarh block of Cuttack district today. Fire broke out in a wagon of the stationary train following fire brigade was informed. The fire fighter team swung into action and doused the inferno before it spread to other wagon of the freight train.

The coal loaded train was standing at the station since 8 pm yesterday. At around 3 am, the railway staff noticed smoke emanating out of its wagon. The station authorities informed Athagarh fire brigade unit immediately. Fire fighters could not immediately engage themselves in the operation as the over head electricity connection was not disconnected by the Railways. It took about an hour to disconnect the power following which the team extinguished the fire .

The reason of the blaze in the coal laden train is unclear. On Saturday, a similar incident took place after fire broke out in one of the wagons of a freight train at Rupsa station in Balasore district. On Thursday, fire was also noticed from an AC coach of Durg-Puri Express. However, no one was injured in the incident.
