Gold Mines Found in Odisha’s Deogarh, Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: Gold deposits have been discovered in two districts of Odisha, as revealed by Steels and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena during a session in the Assembly on Thursday.

Responding to questions from Jaleswar MLA Aswini Kumar Patra (BJD) and Brahmagiri MLA Upasna Mohapatra (BJP), Jena confirmed that gold mines were identified in the Adasa-Rampalli area of Deogarh district and the Gopur-Gajipur area of Keonjhar district.

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has completed a G-2 level exploration in the Adasa-Rampalli area, while a G-2 level survey is ongoing in the Gopur-Gajipur region of Keonjhar, following the successful completion of a G-3 level survey.

Jena assured the Assembly that the state government will act on the technical committee’s recommendations after receiving the final survey reports.

The legislators had sought clarification on the discovery of gold mines in the state and urged the minister to share details of the survey findings and future government plans regarding the exploitation of these resources.
