GMDC MD meets Odisha Chief Minister, proposes key development projects

Bhubaneswar: Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC) Managing Director, Roopwant Singh, called on Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan here on Thursday to discuss the progress of GMDC’s coal block operations in the state and to review the company’s ongoing development efforts.
During the meeting, Singh presented several key proposals aimed at bolstering Odisha’s development. Among the major initiatives was the proposal to establish a modern hospital, two schools, and an IT park in the state. These projects are expected to enhance local infrastructure and create job opportunities, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the proposed initiatives, noting their potential to drive Odisha’s social and economic development. Majhi emphasized that such projects align with the state’s vision of fostering sustainable growth and improving public services. He assured Singh of the state government’s full support and mentioned that further discussions would be held in the coming days to move the proposals forward.
The meeting also included a review of GMDC’s ongoing operations at its coal blocks in Odisha, particularly the Baitarani West and Burapahad blocks. The status, progress, and future plans for these coal projects were discussed, reinforcing GMDC’s commitment to meeting the region’s energy demands.
