Ganpati Bisarjan: DJ Seized for Sound Pollution

Bhubaneswar: Four persons including three members of a Ganesh puja committee were arrested by the personnel of the Balianta police station in Bhubaneswar for sound pollution and violation of restrictions on the use of loud DJs. The DJ-loaded vehicle used during the Ganesh idol immersion procession was also seized.

After receiving a complaint that the Kokibali Ganesh Puja Committee of Kokibali village had taken out a Ganesh idol immersion procession using loud speaker in high pitch causing immense sound pollution and disturbing public peace without taking permission from the competent authority, the police took action.

Based on the complaint, police seized the DJ truck with Amplifier, Falco lights, high beam laser lights, sound system etc. and brought to the Balianta Police Station. Police also arrested four persons including the president of the puja committee, its secretary, cashier and the driver of the DJ vehicle and the owner of the JYOTI DJ Sound. They were booked for violating the Odisha Police Urban Act 2003 and The Orissa Fireworks and Loud Speaker Act 1958.
