Gadkari Lauds Odisha’s World Skill Center

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, visited the World Skill Center (WSC) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday as part of his tour to Odisha. Accompanied by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Minister reviewed various advanced facilities at the Centre and lauded the state government’s efforts in empowering youth through industry-focused skill development.
Expressing satisfaction over the WSC’s role, Gadkari said the Center is significantly contributing to skilling the youth and preparing them for employment in both domestic and international markets. He also praised the modern infrastructure and the vision behind establishing such an institution in Odisha.
During the visit, the Union Minister interacted with students and inquired about their training experiences and career goals. He toured key facilities at the Center, including the vertical transportation lab, the Centre of Excellence in advanced welding, automation, and basic robotics.
Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education, highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the skilling ecosystem in India is being transformed. “The World Skill Center is making remarkable strides in enhancing youth employability and positioning Odisha as a key player in the national skill development landscape,” he said.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Majhi felicitated Union Minister Gadkari for his continued support toward the state’s development goals.
Dignitaries present during the visit included Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Khordha MLA Prashant Jagadev, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, SD&TE Bhupendra Singh Poonia, WSC CEO and CEO of Odisha Skill Development Authority Rashmita Panda, Chief Skills Officer Bruce Poh, Additional Secretary & COO, WSC, Pinaki Patnaik, Principal T Thambyrajah, and Deputy Principal Jeetamitra Satpathy.
