Four Temples Looted in Mayurbhanj
Kaptipada: A series of temple burglaries rocked the Kaptipada Bazar area of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, late last night. Miscreants targeted four temples, including the Goddess Laxmi, Goddess Parvati, Maa Mangala, and Goddess Chandi temples, looting valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
According to reports, the burglars broke the locks of the main gates to gain entry. They looted crowns, earrings, and other ornaments adorning the deities, along with worship items. In addition, the donation boxes (hundi) of all four temples were forcibly opened, and cash offerings were stolen.
Gold, silver ornaments, and cash were taken during the coordinated thefts, raising concerns among the local community.
Following a complaint by the temple committee, police have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are reviewing security measures and working to trace the culprits.
