Four Ancient Idols Stolen from Temple on Outskirts of Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, four ancient idols made of Astadhatu (an alloy of eight metals) were stolen from the Madan Mohan Temple in Balipatna, located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, late last night. The stolen idols include those of Lord Madan Mohan, Goddess Laxmi, Radha Krishna, and Goddess Bhudevi.
According to reports, the miscreants broke the locks of the temple, which is situated in the Sishu Matha premises, and took valuable ancient idols and ornaments. The looting of these sacred items has left the community disturbed, as the miscreants appear to be specifically targeting ancient temples and historical artifacts.
Upon discovery of the theft in the morning, a case was filed at the Balipatna Police Station. Authorities have since begun examining CCTV footage and are actively investigating the incident.
The community remains on high alert as concerns grow over the increasing trend of thefts targeting historic religious sites.
