Former MLA Bibekananda Meher Passes Away

Balangir (Reporters Today Bureau): Former Patnagarh MLA Bibekananda Meher passed away this morning.

As per reports, the 78-year-old Meher was suffering from kidney-related ailments and undergoing treatment for the past two years.

His condition deteriorated and took his last breathe while being taken to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

In 1977 he was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Patnagarh constituency as a Janata Party candidate and again as a Janata Dal candidate in 1990.

He was the government deputy chief whip of Assembly in 1977 and the president of the Balangir District Janata Party from 1981 to 1983.
