Former ICDS Supervisor Sentenced to Two Years RI in Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Bargarh on Monday convicted Ambuja Devi, former Supervisor of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Bargarh (Urban), and sentenced her to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a bribery case.

According to an official press release, Ambuja Devi was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The charges stemmed from her alleged demand and acceptance of a bribe from a newly appointed Anganwadi Worker.

After reviewing the evidence presented during the trial, the Special Judge of Vigilance, Bargarh, found her guilty and awarded two years RI along with a fine.

Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department announced that it would move the competent authority to initiate proceedings for stopping her pension benefits, as per service conduct rules.
