Forest Wing of Vigilance seizes timber worth Rs 12 lakhs

Bhadrak: The Forest wing of Odisha Vigilance on Saturday seized valuable timber and sawmill accessories worth above Rs 12 lakh in Bhadrak district of Odisha. The seizure took place at the Mulansahi village under Dhamnagar Police Station limits in the district.

As per reports, today i.e. on 19.07.2025, on receipt of reliable information regarding running of illegal sawmill, a joint forest raid was conducted by the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance.

During the raid, sawmill accessories along with 75.25 cft. of valuable timber worth Rs.12,03,655 (Rupees Twelve Lakhs Three Thousand Six Hundred Fifty-five) were detected and seized.

It was ascertained that the above sawmill was running without any valid license, violating Section-4 of The Orissa Sawmill and Sawpit (Control) Act-1991. In this connection, three Forest cases were registered vide OR Case No.3D of 2025-26 and UD case No.1D & 2D of 2025-26 in Dhamnagar Wildlife Range under Bhadrak Wildlife Division and are under investigation.
