Five Killed in Road Mishap

Balangir: In a tragic incident, five persons, including two children, died as a car in which they were travelling hit a truck near Chuinbandha in Odisha’s Balangir district, last night. The deceased were identified as Atmaj Nayak (25), who was driving the vehicle, his sister Ipsita Sai (27), her daughter Riya (6), Atmaj’s uncle Deeptiranjan Sai (35) and Deeptiranjan’s daughter Anvi (6).

Atmaj’s mother Arati (47) and Deeptiranjan’s wife Rasmita (29) sustained critical injuries in the mishap and were undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla. According to reports, the accident took place when all of them were returning home after attending a wedding event in Agalpur area. The driver of the ill-fated car lost control over the wheels, following which it dashed against a stationary truck parked on roadside.

The five died on the spot under the impact of the collision. On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, recued the victims, and started an investigation into the incident.
