Fire Destroys Over 10 Shops Near Jahnikuda Ghat in Puri

Puri:A major fire broke out late last night near Jahnikuda Ghat in the Chilika coastal area under Krushnaprasad block of Odisha’s Puri district, destroying more than 10 shops and causing property damage worth several lakhs of rupees.

Sources said the blaze engulfed the shops quickly, reducing all goods to ashes. The affected shops were reportedly stocked with merchandise ahead of the upcoming Pana Jatra festival, intensifying the loss.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Due to the rapid spread of flames, no items could be saved.

Fire personnel from Maluda responded promptly and managed to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but the incident has left local shopkeepers reeling under severe financial loss.

Authorities are assessing the damage and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
