Fire Destroys Homes in Angul Village, Livestock and Valuables Lost

Angul: A devastating fire broke out late Friday night in Balanga village under Angul block, reportedly triggered by an electrical short circuit. The blaze, which started around 11 PM, swiftly engulfed the homes of two villagers—Dillip Biswal and Kastu Nayak—causing significant property damage.
Five thatched houses belonging to the two families were completely reduced to ashes, with the total loss estimated to be in lakhs of rupees. In a tragic turn, Dillip Biswal lost ten goats in the fire, all of which were burnt alive.
Adding to the heartbreak, Kastu Nayak’s daughter, who was preparing for her wedding, lost all household items and valuables collected for the ceremony. Among the destroyed items were furniture, gold jewellery, and ₹50,000 in cash.
Upon receiving an alert, Fire Services personnel promptly reached the spot and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses.
The incident has left the affected families in shock and distress. Local authorities are assessing the damage, and support measures are expected to be initiated to help the victims recover from the loss.
