Fake Maoists Arrested in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The Chitrakonda police arrested five miscreants posing as Maoists and extorting money in Malkangiri district on Sunday. The police seized a gun, Maoist letter, and three mobile phones from them. The arrest of the fake Maoists was done, based on the complaint of the Naib Sarpanch of Badapadar on December 3.

“Of the five miscreants two have been identified as the residents of Badapadar while the three others belong to Malkangiri,” informed DSP Lakshmidhar Swain, Malkangiri. Police court forwarded them after their arrest.

According to the sources, Bhaktaram Mishra, the Naib Sarpanch lodged a complaint against the miscreants following their exploitation. The locals agitated the excessive exploitation of the fake Maoists.

The group was allegedly involved in extorting money from the people and exploited them. They were threatening the locals and demanding money. They warned that they would cause harm if their demands are not met.  They summoned the Naib Sarpanch and a journalist to the people’s court and threatened to kill them.
