Excise Team’s Vehicle Key Snatched in Balasore

Jaleswar: In a dramatic turn of events, family members of a woman arrested for brown sugar smuggling snatched the keys of an Excise Department vehicle in Balasore district, Odisha, on Monday.

The Excise Satellite team had raided the Kamarda Bazar area, under Kamarda Police Station limits, after receiving information about the woman’s involvement in smuggling. Despite initial resistance from locals, the team successfully seized brown sugar from her possession and took her into custody.

However, as the accused was being transported, her family intervened and forcibly took the vehicle’s keys, causing disruptions for the Excise officers.

Meanwhile, the family of the accused claimed that the substance seized was Multani soil, not brown sugar, and alleged wrongful arrest.

The Excise Department continues its investigation into the matter.
