Excise Department Seizes Brown Sugar Worth ₹2 Crore in Balasore

Balasore: The Excise Department seized 2 kg of brown sugar worth ₹2 crore during a raid in the Arad Bazar area of Balasore town on Sunday.

One accused, Amjad Khan, was arrested, while his brother and accomplice, Sabir Khan, managed to escape. Amjad was apprehended on charges of illegal dealing in brown sugar.

According to reports, the brothers had transported the brown sugar from Madhya Pradesh by train and stored it in Arad Bazar. They allegedly planned to distribute the consignment to various districts in Odisha.

Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Department raided Amjad’s house in Balasore, uncovering the brown sugar consignment.

The market value of the seized narcotics is estimated at ₹2 crore. A search operation is underway to apprehend Sabir Khan.
