Excise Busts Underground Liquor Racket in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In a shocking raid, the Kamakhyanagar Excise Department has busted an underground country-made liquor racket operating in Ambapalas village under Parjang police limits. The racket was hiding its operations by digging at least 50 small wells, where illicit liquor was being brewed.

Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Department, along with local police, raided the site and discovered the hidden wells. To their surprise, the miscreants had no visible stockpiles of liquor in houses or factories to avoid detection. Instead, they were operating entirely underground, storing and fermenting the liquor beneath the surface.

During the raid, led by Deputy Director Sawan Bhola, authorities pumped out large quantities of country-made liquor using motor pumps.

The Excise Department seized thousands of liters of illicit liquor, along with molasses, urea, and other substances used in production. The scale of the operation suggests that the gang had been brewing and distributing liquor for a long time.

According to police, some of the accused had been detained earlier but were released. After their release, they resumed operations, setting up the underground brewing system to avoid further crackdowns.

Authorities are now intensifying their investigation to track down all individuals involved and dismantle the entire network.
