Ex-cricketer Anil Kumble in Odisha to discuss sports

Anil Kumble has landed in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for talks with the government officials on the matter of setting up of a high performance centre for weight-lifting in the state.

Kumble is also to proceed to Puri to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Anil Kumble is associated with one of the Corporate roped in by the Naveen government to set up state of the art sporting facilities in the state. His company has been selected to set up a high performance centre for weight-lifting.

While talking to the media, Kumble expressed delight at the way things are moving in Odisha in the area of sports and praised the government and the Chief Minister for the high vision. He said not only infrastructure but sports psychology, nutrition, coaching are also important. He said young talents have to be selected from the districts to create a talent pool for future international level competitions. He said the existing facilities are also of very high standard and the youth should make full use of them.
