Elephant Found Dead in Keonjhar’s Telkoi Forest, Clash Suspected

Keonjhar: A female elephant, estimated to be 5-6 years old, was found dead today in a paddy field near Kantalei village under Khuntapada panchayat in the Telkoi forest section of Keonjhar district.

Forest guards discovered the elephant’s body early in the morning. Initial observations revealed severe injuries on the elephant’s back, neck, and abdomen, leading forest officials to suspect that the death resulted from a clash between two elephant herds.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of death.

The forest department has reported the presence of two elephant herds in the Telkoi area. One herd consists of 40 elephants, while the other has 15. Officials are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further incidents.
