Elephant Calf Rescued From Well
Sambalpur: An elephant calf has been rescued on Sunday from an abandoned trench in Sambalpur.
The mini pachyderm came accidentally into the well near Sagajuri village of Badamal range under the Rairakhol division late at night. On being informed by the locals, the elephant was rescued by forest officials after an hour-long operation. Later, after checking up its health conditions, it was released into the nearest reserve forest.
Worthwhile to mention that another calf was recently rescued by the forest officials with the help of the villagers in Basiapada forest under Jujumura police limits on May 1.
