Jajpur: In a tragic incident amid rising theft and burglary cases in the region, an elderly woman was killed and her daughter critically injured during a robbery attempt at their residence in Tigiria village under Balipadia panchayat of Odisha’s Jajpur district late Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as 77-year-old Kaushalya Pati, while her 55-year-old daughter, Mamata Pati, an ASHA worker, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

According to reports, the mother and daughter were asleep in their house when two unidentified bike-borne miscreants broke in with the intent to loot.
