Earthquake Hits Tibet

Lhasa, Dec 24 : A 5.8 magnitude quake hit Xigaze city in Tibet autonomous region, at 3:32 a.m.  Monday (Beijing Time),according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC). No casualties have been reported.

            The epicenter was measured at 30.32 degrees north latitude and 87.64 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 8 km, the center said. The country government has dispatched staff to investigate quake damages. The telecommunication in the region has remained undisturbed.

            Some cracks were found on rural houses and there have been reports of damages to some livestock sheds in the country. The conditions of remote villages were still not available.
