Durg-Puri Intercity Catches Fire

Bhubaneswar: Panic wreaked in Durg-Puri Intercity train late at night on Wednesday after a fire was reported in it. The incident took place at the Khariar road station in Odisha’s Nuapada district at about 10 PM, said sources. The train resumed its service after the fire was doused by fire services wing.

Sources said that the Durg-Puri Intercity Express was passing the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh while smoke reportedly came out from the lower portion of an AC coach. However, the smoke reportedly intensified near the Khariar Road station. Being informed from the station crew Khariar fire officials rushed to the spot and initiated dousing operation.

The reason behind the fire is yet to be determined. However, according to some onlookers, the smoke came off from the braking coils of an AC coach initially that gradually spread to the whole train.
