Drunk Youth Rescued After Tower Standoff in Talcher

Talcher: A drunk youth caused a commotion on Wednesday morning by climbing atop a tower and threatening to jump off in Rangbeda village under Kaniha block of Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district.

The youth, identified as Srikant Dehuri from Rangbeda, drew a crowd of onlookers as he staged the high drama. Upon receiving information, police and fire brigade officials from NTPC and Kaniha rushed to the scene and attempted to persuade him to come down.

Despite their efforts, the youth refused to cooperate for nearly four hours. Finally, the authorities managed to convince him to descend safely. The incident created a significant stir in the village, attracting a large gathering.

No injuries were reported, and further investigation is underway.
