Droupadi Murmu witnesses Odia film ‘Nabakalebara’

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu witnessed the Odia film Shri Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Friday.

The devotional and historical film explores the origin and significance of the sacred Nabakalebara ritual associated with Lord Jagannath. This unique ritual involves the periodic renewal of the wooden idols of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at the Puri Jagannath Temple.

According to a post shared by the President’s office on social media platform X, the film’s director, Soubhagyalaxmi Jena, along with the cast and crew, attended the special screening.

The film is set to release to the public on July 19 at 5 PM at Saket DLF Mall. A press conference with the film’s director and producer is also scheduled for the same day to discuss the movie and its making.

The President’s post highlighted the cultural and spiritual importance of the film and appreciated its efforts in portraying Odisha’s rich religious traditions.
